Local Beaches & Nature Spots

Playa Ostional

Just 5 minute walk from the Immersion Center is the home of the Olive Ridley turtles. This 2 mile black sand nesting beach is a fantastic surf spot and also a place to see one of the miracles of nature. The mama turtles return to the beach where they were born to dig a nest in the sand and lay their eggs, usually around the new moon. Often there are thousands of mama turtles nesting at once! Approximately 45 days later, the babies hatch and return to the sea. This is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Playa San Juanillo

5 kilometers north of the Immersion Center, this small fishing village and white sand beach is known for diving and snorkeling. Locals coin this beach as one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Costa Rica.

Boca de Nosara

Rio Nosara, 5 kilometers to the north, is the home of a variety of birds, howler monkeys and even crocodiles. There’s paddle boarding and kayak tours to view the local wildlife right from the river.

Playa Pelada

5 kilometers to the south, this beautiful white sand beach, is a point break and cove. Enjoy a juice, cocktail or a meal at the lovely La Luna Restaurant and sit at a table with a marvelous view and excellent local fare on the beach.

Playa Garza

Playa Garza is a beautiful beach and fishing village just south of Playa Guiones. This spectacular bay is great for paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkeling or just a relaxing day gazing into the horizon on the beach.

Playa Guiones

7 kilometers to the south, this beach town is famous for surfing for all levels, very conducive to first time surfers or beginners.
